Jamboree Unit at Summer Fete (09 Jul 06 7:55pm)

On Saturday 1 July the Southgate members of Greater London North Jamboree Unit attended the St Johns Church in Palmers Green as part of the summer fete.

The Unit had been loaned a car which was filled with balloons as part of their fundraising efforts. The car and balloons were very kindly loaned to the Unit by Renault Enfield who also donated the prize to the person who guessed the number of balloons in the car.

The whole event was organised for the Unit by Ann Cording who is part of the Southgate District Fellowship. Ann and her husband Fred were instrumental in this fundraising activity.

Renault’s representative on the day was David Arnold who dealt with the delivery of the car and balloons. David (a Scout Leader at the 4th Southgate) assisted by his girl friend Wendy and the Southgate members of the Unit filled the car with the balloons. They then got members of the public to guess the number of balloons in the car.

The Unit was joined by Lillian, our newest member from Barnet. After the fete the group went off to Phasels Wood Scout camp to join the remaining 36 members of the Unit for its first weekend camp.

The whole event raised a massive £160 towards our funds to send the Unit to the World Jamboree in 2007.

I would like to thank Renault Enfield, Ann Cording and Dave Arnold for supporting the GLN Unit.
