Scout Community Week with Sainsbury's (16 Oct 07 5:19pm)

Customers and staff at Winchmore Hill Sainsbury's witnessed local Scouting at its best during the 3rd-10th October, the duration of our community partnership.

Altogether, nearly 200 Scouts from Southgate District took part in the Winchmore Hill Sainsbury's experience during the week. This involved being shown around the store, taken to the parts where the customer's don't see, and helping customers with bag packing.

The 23rd Southgate Scout Group raised £2000 towards a new minibus from donations during their bag packing throughout Saturday. And just up the road at Highlands Village Sainsbury's, our District Explorer Scouts raised nearly £300 for a morning's work, and that money will be put towards forthcoming District Explorer Scout adventures.

Southgate District Commissioner, Chris Foster, said "Our expectations for the week were more than met. We are currently in the process of following up all the 'wanting to join' enquiries from both staff and customers. We also gave out hundreds of leaflets to adults and young people who requested further information about local Scouting".
