An amazing Pantomime (19 Dec 07 7:58pm) The annual Southgate & Haringey District Pantomime turned out to be an amazing run of 11 performances, often full houses.
The Intimate Theatre in Palmers Green rocked in rythmn to this year's production of "Jack & The Beanstalk", with many people commenting that it was the best pantomime they had ever seen.
After the final performance, District Commissioner Chris Foster, along with County Commissioner Barry Manley made several awards to key people:
Simon Holt received a County Commissioner's commendation for creating and managing a pantomime website allowing people from all over London and beyond to know about the panto and book tickets;
Howard Johnson (Technical Manager), Jim Jay (Stage Manager) and Ann Cording (Wardrobe Manager) each received Long Service Awards;
Fred Cording received an Award of Merit for outstanding service to Scouting not only with The Pantomime, but also at Group, District and County level;
Elaine Alles received an Award of Merit for over 25 years outstanding service to The Pantomime and also to Scouting in Hertfordshire;
Richard Arkwright received an Award of Merit for outstanding services to The Pantomime for many years as performer, Production Assistant and Panto Chairman;
Chris Thorpe and Chris Berry each received a Bar to The Award of Merit for sustained outstanding services to Scouting and to The Pantomime, where they have been involved in writing, producing and directing the annual show for many years.
They even had time to announce right at the end that the 2008 production will be Robinson Crusoe. Now, that's something to look forward to, already!
