The Pull of The Panto (27 Mar 08 7:41pm) "Jack and the Beanstalk" proved to be one of the top North London theatre attractions last Christmas, and the show played to rave reviews.
Southgate & Haringey District Scouts rehearsed nonstop for 3 months before the curtain was raised on the opening night at The Intimate Theatre in Palmers Green, starting an 11 performance run last December.
A cast of 40 sang and danced their way through the show whilst at the same time telling the story of Jack, his magic beans and his battles with a 10 foot high ogre.
The lead part of Jack was superbly played by Tom Pegg, a Southgate District Explorer Scout based at the Cockfosters Unit. This was Tom's first principle part in The Panto, and like all the other cast members he was in fine form.
Ticket sales were yet again very high and the audiences loved it. Some of the comments received were:
David Burrowes, MP, last Friday night:
“Really fantastic – the best Pantomime I have seen”.
Enfield Councillor Lee Chamberlain:
“My family and I had a superb evening. Everybody on stage were enjoying themselves and in the audience had a wonderful time”.
