Numbers up again!!!!! (20 Apr 08 9:01pm) For the third year running, Southgate District has witnessed a rise in numbers of Scouting members.
The annual census figures for January 2008 have just been published, and Southgate District leads the way with 4% more growth. This just goes to show that more boys and girls than ever before want to join Scouting.
District Commissioner Chris Foster is ecstatic by the news. He said “I have gone back through the figures and I am delighted to say that this is our biggest increase in numbers for 22 years. This year’s results show that we have more young people in Scouting, more adults want to get involved as Scout Leaders, and there are more girls who have become members. In fact, the increase in girls becoming Scouts has increased by 80%. Our 150 adult leaders are doing an amazing job, freely volunteering their time to help young people develop through Scouting”.
