More young people enjoy Scouting (03 May 06 9:00pm)
Great news that recently published annual census figures show that Southgate District has had 4% growth in the last year.

This brings the total membership numbers to over 900, thus reversing previous years' trends. Beaver Scouts are up 3, Cub Scouts are up 4, Scouts are up by a superb 21 and Explorer Scouts totals are constant after a 23% leap last year. District Commissioner Chris Foster said "I am delighted that more young people are joining Scouting. The commitment and enthusiasm shown by the 100 strong adults who form the Leader Teams is truly outstanding".

Southgate boasts a total of 14 Scout Groups to cater for boys and girls from 6 to 14 years old. The District also provides four Explorer Scout Units offering challenge and adventure to the 14 to 18 age range.
