Welcome to 22nd Southgate Scout Group, part of the vibrant Southgate Scouting community! Our Group has been at the heart of New Southgate for more than 50 years, offering young people opportunities to explore, grow, and thrive through Scouting. Whether it’s earning badges, camping under the stars, or making lifelong friends, we provide a safe and exciting environment for young people to develop skills for life.

Our History

Founded in 1971 The 22nd Southgate has a strong tradition of helping young people achieve their potential. Over the decades, we’ve organised countless weekend adventures, from local camps in and around Hertford to Summer camps throughout the UK and international expeditions into Europe. Our Group is built on a strong sense of community, supported by a large and dedicated team of volunteers who help make every activity memorable.

Our Sections

We offer Scouting opportunities for all age groups, ensuring a seamless journey of adventure and growth:

• Beavers (School years 2 & 3): Full of fun, friendship, and discovery, Beavers enjoy their first taste of Scouting.
• Cubs (School years 4 & 5 ): Exciting activities and teamwork help Cubs develop confidence and independence.
• Scouts (School years 6 to 9 ): Adventure takes off with outdoor challenges, leadership opportunities, and personal development.

Once our youth members reach the age of 14, they can join a local Explorer Scout Unit, or choose to volunteer as a Young Leader within the group.

Meeting Times and Locations

Our sections meet at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Centre in Bowes Road N11 1AA, opposite Arnos Grove shopping Centre. It’s a convenient and welcoming venue for all our activities.

• Beavers: [Monday OR Wednesday 5.00pm – 6.00pm]
• Cubs: [Monday OR Wednesday 6.15pm – 7.45pm]
• Scouts: [Monday OR Wednesday 8.00pm – 9.30pm]

Parking/Transport Information: There is amble parking in front of the Parish Centre. The Scout Group has its own minibuses.

We are always delighted to welcome more volunteers and have roles available from Trustee and fundraiser to beaver team member and minibus driver.  It’s a great way to support your child or give something back to the community.
• We are big: With over 200 young people aged 6 – 15yrs, we are one of the largest Scout Groups in London. We also have a large team of Young Leaders (aged 15 – 18yrs) who support our adult volunteers.
• Welcoming and Inclusive: While linked to a catholic church, we are proud to welcome young people from all backgrounds, providing a supportive space for everyone.
